The ABUHRC provides an important and heavily-used information service to the media, including all the major UK radio and television news services, and others in Europe, the United States, and elsewhere. News coverage to benefit from ABUHRC expertise and informed comment has included the 1999 Izmit (Turkey), 2001 Gujarat (India), 2003 (Bam, Iran), 2005 (Kashmir, Pakistan) and 2008 (Sichuan, China) earthquakes, the UK October 2000 and 2007 storms and floods, Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, and the impacts of climate change.
Event and post-loss reports published by the Centre include: the Central & Eastern European Floods of July 1997; Global Warming – the View in 1998; the UK Floods of Easter 1998; the regional impacts of the 1997-8 El Nino; and Landfalling hurricanes in the Caribbean.
Other informational products include the quarterly newsletter ABUHRC ALERT; Issues in Risk Science; ABUHRC Technical Papers and ABUHRC Working Papers in Disaster Studies and Management.
