With the recent onset of the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season and major losses resulting from storms across Europe earlier this year, windstorm remains a key area for research. The main foci of interest at the Centre are; tropical storms worldwide, European extreme weather and global drought.
Through our network of affiliates we offer innovative research and award-winning products to benefit the prediction and monitoring of these weather and climate extremes. Our quantitative warnings help industry, government and society to better manage the financial and humanitarian risks caused by extreme weather.
